Welcome Aboard
Enjoy boutique luxury cruising at its best.
The Mekong Princess is one of the smallest cruise ships built on the Mekong River, 14 suites, which has many advantages.
On the upstream cruise this allows the cruise to start in the heart of Saigon city saving a three hour bus trip through to My Tho where all other ships must start and finish. On the downstream cruise the cruise is also extended as the ship bypasses My Tho and continues to the Saigon River, a beautiful section of the cruise, and into Saigon City. The unique design of the ship offers each of the 14 suites large windows from which to view the river and its scenery.. including from the bathrooms.
We are the first cruise ship not to use plastic on board. Each passenger receives their own metal water bottle which they refill at filling stations in the lobbies of the ship.
We have local farmers providing hollow reeds for drinking straws which provide income opportunities for farming families and have replaced plastic straws.
We operate a food waste management program to ensure no waste is placed in the river. No plastic bags are used or are available on the ship. We are totally committed to protecting the environment in which we cruise.
The Food… exceptional… a combination of local Vietnamese, Cambodian and western cuisine, we are also able to cater for most medical/dietary requirements..eg gluten free etc as long as these requirements are made known at the time of booking. Our Chefs are highly trained and of 5 Star standard.
The ship has been designed to cruise where other larger ships are unable to go and has been fitted-out beautifully in a Vietnamese, French colonial style. It has the highest crew to guest ratio on the river with a one to one ratio so service levels are outstanding.
All crew have worked and served on the ship since she was launched six years ago, it’s their home, they love the ship and the travel experience it offers guest and treat anyone who travels with them as they would anyone entering their home, with respect and great care. The crew are very special and important to the success of this cruise. The crew are a mixture of both Vietnamese and Cambodian.
We have exclusive access to a number of villages in the Mekong Delta and along the river… so when our travellers go ashore they are the only ones there and so we can have them experience a very personal and authentic, up close look at the local way of life and due to our size local families are happy to invite us into their homes so that you travellers can truly understand how the local people live.
The Mekong Princess is the only ship allowed to dock in Can Tho which is the Capital of the Mekong Delta.
Can Tho hosts the biggest Floating Market in South East Asia. Because we are at the door step of the market our guest are not subject to the hour long sampan journey which other cruise ship clients must make to get to and from the market and so spend more quality time at one of the most fascinating travel experiences in Asia. Our Local Guides are experts and have been select-ed not only for their knowledge but also for their personalities… great people whom we are very proud off and all local guides have been with the ship since it was launched.

We have a commitment to all our crew, guides and staff.
We do not build a company, we build people, and in turn our people will build the company.
Gift Shop
Our on-board gift shop supports local crafts people and artists from the region offering only quality locally made gifts and memento… our travellers rave about it!
Humanitarian Work
True Vacations Ltd organises and commits funding every year to volunteer dental teams travelling to remote parts of Asia to repair the teeth of children who have never had the opportunity to see a dentist before. We also run education evenings for the parents, in these villages, to teach the importance of dental hygiene and for them not to allow their children to start chewing “Beatle Nut.” We provide tooth brushes and toothpaste for all the children in these villages.
Our next dental trip will take place in January/February 2023 when we will take a team of 18 dentists and hygienists to a remote village in Myanmar. See the humanitarian work page.
