Hanoi & Halong Bay Half Day Cruise (Extensions)

Day 1: Hanoi Half Day City Tour

Upon arrival Hanoi, walk outside the terminal, meet your local guide with your name on the IPT signboard and transfer to city center for sightseeing.

Check-in then have lunch at a local restaurant.

Meet your guide at the hotel lobby and start the tour to the historic Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, an imposing monument lavishly built using marble and granite, and where the preserved body of “Uncle Ho” resides. 

After that, you can visit Ho Chi Minh House before passing One Pillar Pagoda which is a historic Buddhist temple in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It is regarded alongside the Perfume Temple, as one of Vietnam’s two most iconic temples. Behind the Mausoleum, you can see Ho Chi Minh’s House where he lived and worked. It is made of wood and enjoys a tranquil setting, with a view of a lotus pond. Ho Chi Minh’s belongings are on display and you can walk up the steps of his house to see his bedroom. Wind your way afterwards to the Temple of Literature, the first University for the sons of mandarins, for an overview about Hanoian culture and appreciation for ancient Vietnamese architecture.

Then cap off the day with a show at the water puppet theatre (Show starts at 05:15PM – Duration: 50 minutes) – a uniquely northern Vietnamese art form depicting scenes of rural life and episodes of national history.

After, we transfer to a local restaurant for dinner, then back to the hotel and free at leisure.

Day 2: Halong (3,5 hour drive) / Half Day Cruise 

08:30 – meet your guide at the hotel lobby and we depart 3,5 hours to Halong via national road
12:00 – Arriving at Wharf #1 – Tuan Chau International Port . Check in on board.
12:15 – Enjoy local seafood Lunch, pass by very beautiful islets: Dog (Hòn Chó Đá), Incense (Hòn Đỉnh Hương), Fighting Cock (Hòn Gà Chọi)…
13:30 – Visit Heaven Palace – Driftwood (Hang Thiên Cung- Đầu Gỗ) Cave – Explore one of the most famous grotto of Halong Bay.
15:00 – Continue cruising through Halong Bay.
16:00 – Arriving at pier. Meet your guide and we transfer to hotel for check-in.

Arrive at hotel, take a quick rest and transfer to a local restaurant for dinner.

Breakfast at the hotel.

Then, check-out and drive back to Hanoi via the new Highway.

Have a lunch at local restaurant and then visit Tran Quoc Buddist pagoda. Proceed to the Cyclo station for a ride around the Old Quarter. Drop off at the Catholic church for a glance.

Enjoy 1-hour massage before dinner at local restaurant.

Stay overnight at Intercontinental Westlake hotel.

Day 4: Hanoi departs / Hanoi – Saigon Via / Saigon Half Day City Tour

Breakfast at the hotel.

Then, check-out and transfer to Hanoi airport for flight to Saigon.
Arrive at Saigon airport, walk outside the terminal, meet your local guide and transfer to the hotel.

Lunch at your own leisure.

3:00PM – join a guided tour of Ho Chi Minh City which was built by the French in 1850. We begin our day with a visit to the Central Post office and along the way we will also view the Saigon Opera House, constructed by the French in the 1898. We visit Independence Palace also known as Reunification Palace, designed by the architect Ngo Viet Thu. The palace was the home and former workplace of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. We also visit the War Remnants Museum which primarily contains exhibits relating to the Vietnam War.

Tonight, have a dinner in a local restaurant. After, transfer back to hotel.

Day 5: Cu Chi Tunnels (2-hour drive)

08:30AM – meet your guide at the hotel lobby and we depart a 2-hour drive northwest of Saigon to the famous Cu Chi tunnels. The tunnel complex was initially started in 1948 to protect the Viet Cong guerrillas from the French air and ground sweeps. The tunnels also served as communication routes, storage facilities for food and weapon caches as well as hospitals and living quarters for guerrilla fighters throughout the American war. A visit to the underground villages will provide a better understanding of the tunnels’ history, the hardship of life in the tunnels and the Vietnamese resilience during combat. Return to Saigon and we learn how to make a traditional Vietnamese dish in a cooking class followed by lunch in a local restaurant.

The rest of the day is free at your own leisure.

Day 6: Mekong Princess Embarkation

11:30AM – This morning there will be some free time after breakfast before we transfer to the RV Mekong Princess. Enjoy lunch on board with breathtaking views as we set sail for our journey along the Mekong. Join your fellow travellers this evening for the Welcome Reception and Dinner on board.

Day 7-13: Mekong River Cruise

Day 13: Disembarkation/ Kampong Cham – Siem Reap by Road (5 hours)

Disembarkation in Kampong Cham, from Kampong Cham we drive to Siem Reap to the hotel for check-in.

Lunch at Champey Restaurant.

This afternoon, board a tuk tuk for a tour through the city and after stopping to have photos taken for your Angkor complex entrance pass, you arrive at the gate of renowned Angkor Wat for a visit. Then, enter through the south gate of Angkor Thom for a guided tour of Bayon temple, known for its mesmerizing faces and one of the rare Buddhist temples in Angkor.

Day 14: Full Day Angkor Temples & Preak Dak

Continue your Guided Sightseeing of the Angkor Temples at Ta Prohm. Tree roots cover the ruin walls, allowing you to experience the temple with the same wonder as early explorers. Then visit Banteay Srei, a unique temple built on a small scale from red sandstone, which can be carved like wood. En route stop at a local village famous for making Khmer noodles by hand.

Lunch at The Square 24.

Boat trip to Kampong Pluk village, you start with a boat ride along the surrounding flooded mangrove forests and enjoy the biosphere. Furthermore, you can have a visit of the schools, restaurants, and the shops, all moored in the middle of this massive lake. Then, return to Siem Reap for dinner.

Day 15: Siem Reap Departs

Meet with your tour guide in the hotel lobby for group transfer to the Siem Reap International Airport for your flight home.
